Dear 5Couragers,

I hope everyone had spent their holidays having fun, resting, reflecting, or simply catching up on things or with people whom you have sort of neglected during school term.

2009 marks an important year for all of you. Bearing in mind that time passes really quickly, especially in P6, your top priority would have to be your studies, at least for the next 9-10 months.

Although you may feel the pain and torment of having to sacrifice your play time for work, the only person who will truly benefit from the sacrifices made would be yourself. So, no matter how badly (or well) you have done in 2008, it's time to kick all bad habits and pull up your socks!

Just imagine yourself looking forward to (and not worried sick about) the release of PSLE results because you know you have truly put in your best, crying when you receive the result slip not because you have done badly but because you had finally see the fruits of your hard labour, having so many choices of secondary schools to pick from because you qualify to enter so many of them instead of worrying that you would be posted to a school that is not of your choice and not being able to join any one of your friends in the schools that they are going to. (The list goes on and on...)

Hence, set a goal for yourself right at the beginning of the year and work towards it. I have confidence that all of you are capable of moving on to a higher level if you put your mind to it.

Read up in advance before lessons, be willing to share your knowledge with the rest, ask and clarify when in doubt and treat your school work seriously.

2009 marks a new beginning for me too. I would no longer be a teacher at Admiralty Primary School. I would be spending more time with my loved ones (I love all of you too...) and still continue to teach but in a different setting. I regret that I would not be able to take you for Primary 6 but trust me, for you are in good hands.
